ARRIVAL UPDATE

We will be arriving at school around 9:15.

We just got into I85 in Petersburg VA.

Just left quantico - US Marine Corps Museum. Awesome museum. We are headed home now.

Start of our last day. Today is the White House, many war memorials. No rain (or snow) today but very cold.

Winter just won't let go. It is snowing now.

Due to the cold and windy weather we are foregoing the memorials tours for tonight. Going to hotel to shower and warm up. We will then meet as a group in the hotel lobby to have some great group fellowship time with games and story sharing. Hope to get some great group pictures tonight.

All fueled up with Fuel pizza so we can now go to the FDR  and MLK Jr memorials. 

History trivia - President Lincoln died at 7:22am on this date in 1865. He was shot at Ford's Theater the night if April 14. He was carried across the street to a house where he then died in the morning.

Going out for pizza dinner now. Lots of tired and hungry people. Oh by the way it is still raining and temperature is dropping. 

American History museum now. Just made a ten minute walk to bus in driving wind and rain storm but all is good and spirits are great.

Awesome time at newseum  on our way to national place for lunch. It stopped raining yay!!

On the road to the newseum  lots of rain but lots of cheerful people. Delaying capital bldg to later today due to rain. 

4/14/14 DC trip pictures

Here are a few pictures from yesterday, 4/14/14.  We have a very tour packed day ahead of us.  Weather forecast is for rain but it won't deter this group of amazing kids, chaperones and teachers.  Capitol building and lots of memorials are scheduled for today, so look for blog posts throughout the day.  Have a great day LCS families!

9:40pm 4/14/14

Walked to fords theater and saw house Lincoln died in. Went to Jefferson memorial. On our way to hotel for an early lights out. Breakfast at 7:00 am and back to touring at 7:30am. Need to sort through hundreds if pics so will not post until the morning. Good night NC from DC. 

7:18pm 4/14/14

Toured Arlington National Cemetary including JFK memorial, gravesite of Robert Kennedy and Ted Kennedy. Went to tomb of unknown soldier and viewed the changing if the guard. The precision and timing of the honor guard is amazing. Went to memorial depicting the raising of US flag at Iwo Jima. We ate dinner at Union Station and are about to start another tour. The kids are awesome and are having a great time. Hope to post pictures tonight.

Arrived at Arlington National Cementary. Boarding tram to take tour. Cloudy but no rain. Will post pictures tonight.

We are now 35 minutes from DC. Great trip so far. This is a great group of kids. First stop will be Arlington National Cementary. Next blog will be from there.
